The Manager of Controls, Compliance & Ethics (CC&E) is accountable for driving and embedding the Business Integrity agenda across Diageo North America (DNA).

Key accountabilities include:

  • Leads and embeds Diageo North America's Controls & Compliance agenda to ensure universal understanding, awareness and compliance
  • Lead Investigator within the CC&E Team, proactively identifying control or compliance issues within North American markets.
  • Drives and supports the financial controls agenda including all SOX and CARM implementation activities.
  • Builds organization capability and understanding in the financial controls and compliance areas.
  • Make a big contribution to developing our program of embedding controls, governance & compliance in the business. This means day to day judgmental decision making and policy guidance for our business partners.
  • Respond to ad-hoc inquiries from the business on meaning and application of local policies, global policies and standards. The complexity of the questions will vary. Decisions will regularly require rapid turnaround .
  • Ensures DNAs compliance programs are industry leading, pragmatic and fit for purpose.
  • Ability to lead and/or support projects driving the control and compliance agenda across the NAM organization.
  • Supports the enterprise risk management process
  • Operates with credibility at highest level of organization - a seasoned leader who can be the organizational steward of the CC&E change agenda across a $6B business.

Financial Responsibility/Decision Making:

While the role does not have direct financial responsibility, it has ownership and leadership of critical DNA wide controls and compliance functions across a $6B business

Management Responsibility

  • Reports to Director CC&E North America
  • Key business partner to business leadership teams
  • Key linkages to global CC&E team and Global Shared Service team based in Budapest


  • Undergraduate degree in Finance/Accounting or Legal, preferred
  • 5+ years business experience, in a large international company, or of providing consulting services in the area of Governance, Risk, Compliance, Legal or Finance
  • A specialist expert in legal or finance, with strong business acumen
  • Experience in development, assessment and implementation of business controls and policies
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, drive and embed change through ambiguity and across large multi layered matrix organization
